Understanding Microbiology has been developed to help raise the awareness and understanding of different microorganisms found in healthcare settings, to promote and support infection prevention and control measures.
Harmful microorganisms are an ever present risk in modern healthcare and issues such as antibiotic resistance are becoming critical.
This course will help staff to appreciate the risks posed by microorganisms and increase awareness of the many different ways that infections can be spread. This programme covers the differences between bacteria, viruses and fungi, profiles on common and topical harmful microorganisms and details on how germs are contracted. Knowledge gained in this course is expected to positively contribute towards supporting measures to prevent and control infections.
The course can be completed at work or home on a variety of smart devices.
