This course follows on from a plenary session at the 2015 Wounds UK annual conference and provides information about biofilms in wound care management, and looks at options for reducing biofilms in high risk patients.
This course provides information about biofilms; what they are, how they develop and the impact they have on wound healing . It also looks at options for reducing biofilms in high risk patients and includes practical experiences in the use of topical antimicrobials.
This training programme includes presentations from Kath Vowden, Lecturer at University of Bradford and Nurse Consultant at Bradford Teaching Hospitals and Dr. Michael Braun, Manager Medical Affairs, Schülke & Mayr GmbH given at the 2015 Wounds UK annual conference, Harrogate.
Trainees can go through the training at work or at home on a variety of smart devices including computers, tablets and phones.
On completion of this course trainees will:
1. Be aware of what biofilms are and how they develop
2. Understand the impact of biofilms in wound healing
3. Identify options for reducing biofilms in high risk patients
4. Recognise the relevance of topical antimicrobials in the management of wound infection
